During her rounds, MMG provider, Sharon ran her full diagnostic exam with a geriatric patient, admitted because of extreme levels of confusion often attributed to early dementia or Alzheimer’s.
Utilizing her honed skills and experience at MMG with geriatric psychiatric patients, Sharon was able to identify the suspected cause of her confusion, a urinary tract infection. (UTI)
Once confirmed through lab results Sharron ordered at the patient’s psychiatric inpatient hospital, she treated the patient for pheochromocytoma disorder; the UTI and delirium were eliminated.
